With the holidays coming up and the weather getting colder you become very limited to doing things in your free time. Not to worry because I have put together a super, awesome list of creative and fun activities that you can do either by yourself, with friends, with family or on a date. I hope you enjoy! Number 1. The classic Ice skating then having hot chocolate together date. It's the ultimate winter date. A must do for anyone in a relationship. It's fun, good exercise and it's always nice to have a little treat afterwards. Number 2. Going Sledding. Get together with family or friends and find a giant hill near by. You can get sleds from the dollar store or Five Below. It's a great way to spend the afternoon on a Saturday.
Number 3. Go to a Christmas Light Show: There are so many different light shows around. They usually have them at farms. You can drive your car through and watch all the different displays of lights. Which will definitely put you in the holiday mood. Number 4. Have an Ugly Sweater Party: I have always wanted to throw a party like this. How funny it would be to see all the different creations people will come up with for their sweater. You could even give out a prize for whoever has the ugliest sweater of all. Number 5. Bad Movie Night: Cuddle up on the couch and pop some pop-corn cause it's time to be entertained by a movie so bad that it's actually pretty funny. I recommend watching "The Room" or "Zombie Beavers" if you can find it on Netflix. Number 6. Look up Free Events: There are always free events going on in whatever town you live in. Look up local events near you. I find a chocolate walk, tree lighting, holiday window decorating contest and a holiday house tour all free!!! Number 7. Bake Christmas Cookies: "There's Going To Be A Storm Of Baking!" as my mother would say. Every year it's a holiday tradition to bake cookies for friends and family. We bake Ginger bread men, sugar cookies, jelly thumbprints, hazelnut balls, and chocolate chip. They make great gifts and are super yummy! Number 8. DIY Gifts: Time to check out Pinterest for easy DIY gift ideas. Pick the ones you like the best, buy the materials and put them together. You can never go wrong with a chocolate bar sleigh or a gift in a jar. Number 9. Donate Blood: This is the time of the year for giving back and not many people donate their blood probably because nobody wants a needle in their arm. There is always a high demand for blood types. I try to donate as much as I can because I have such a rare blood type so they are always calling me to donate more. Number 10. Donate to Toys for Tots: If you are too freaked out to donate blood you can always donate to Toys for Tots which they have boxes for all over the place. Go to a Toys R Us, pick out a nice toy and donate. Not only will you be helping a child in need but it will make you feel good too! Number 11. Take Holiday Pictures!: Take cute holiday themed pictures with your boyfriend, family or friends and then head over to Walmart and make Christmas cards to send out to everyone you know. The funnier and more creative the pictures are the better. Number 12: Make a Classic Lunch and Watch a Movie: As a cute indoor date idea make your boyfriend/husband a classic lunch of grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. Put on your favorite Christmas movie while you eat it. Number 13. Where's Waldo? Grab your boyfriend/husband and head to your closest bookstore/library. Go into the children's section a get as many Where's Waldo books as you can. Have a contest going to see who can find Waldo first. Whoever can find him the most amount of time get's treated to dinner out. Number 14. Home Shopping: Spend the day going house hunting. even if you're not looking to move any time soon it's still fun to look through different homes and get an idea of what you like. Number 15. Decorating the Tree: Spend the evening decorating the Christmas tree while listening to your favorite Christmas songs. Number 16. Have a Cookie Exchange Party: Get together with your friends and have a cookie exchange party where everyone brings a tin of cookies and everyone shares them as you talk or play board games or whatever you what to do. it's your party. Number 17. Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt: You can either look up a list online or make up your own one. Then drive around the neighborhood looking for things on the list such as, a house with all white lights, a house with a Santa etc. Number 18. Make a List of New Years Resolutions: Take some time for yourself to make a list of what you hope to accomplish this year. It could be something big or just a bunch of small stuff. Just make sure that your goals are realistic and doable otherwise you may get disappointed. Number 19. Go to a Chocolate Factory: This is definitely on my to do list. A chocolate factory would be so much fun and something different to do for a change. Plus you could even make your own chocolate yummy! Number 20. Go see a Christmas Play: There is always Plays to see at your local Theater. I have always wanted to see A Christmas Carol! I hope this list helps you guys beat the winter blues! Host a Halloween party 8. Watch a football game 9. Cook homemade chili 10. Make a list of everything you're thankful for this year I hope you guys enjoy doing this bucket list if you decide to do it. If not I hope you have an awesome Fall anyway!!! Hey there readers. Today I'm going to talk about something that's been on my mind for a while now. It's hard to watch someone you love and care about make bad choices. choices that you know will lead to bad situations. When I was younger I was one of those people where no one could tell me what to do. I thought I knew more then they did and they just didn't understand. Hey there readers! Are you like me? Do you just love to bake things as much as you can? Well then this is the post for you. Today I'm talking about items in your kitchen that every baker should always have in stock because you never know when your baking needs are going to come up. Number one: Eggs. Eggs are a big one. Think of all the things you need eggs for. Cup cakes, brownies, all sorts of different cookies. Eggs are a must have in the kitchen. Number two: butter! Of course you need lots and lots of butter not just as an ingredient but also to grease your pans up with. I actually use a vegetable oil spread which is healthier, cheaper and it tastes exactly like regular butter anyway. Number Three: sugar. You need both regular white sugar and brown sugar. Sugar makes things sweet and tasty. In fact you'd be surprised how many cooking recipes require a slpash of sugar in them. Number four: vanilla extract. Funny how something so small can make such a big difference. Every year my mom makes sweet potato casserole for thanksgiving. One year she forgot to add the 1 tsp of vanilla extract and it just didn't taste the same. Number five: flour. This is a big one! Flour is very important to the baking world. Flour can be used to fix a batter that isn't thick enough. Imagine baking and trying to make a strong dough without flour. There's just no way. Number six: baking powder. A very important item for baking. using mixes with flour. It's one of those ingredients you don't think you need but you do. Number seven: milk. Milk is also a big one. You need milk to make a lot of things. Especially things like pudding. I use almond milk because I refuse to drink regular whole milk now that I know how many hormones and other nasty things are in it. Besides almond milk taste 1000 times better anyway. Number eight: vegetable oil. This is something you need not just for baking but for cooking as well. Always make sure you have some in stock. Number nine: water. Lucky for you this is always in stock. It's something so simple but we use it a lot. We wash with it, we clean with it, we drink it, and we use it for cooking and baking. Number ten: icing/sprinkles. Of course once you're finished baking you want to decorate! Decorating is probably my favorite part of baking. I love decorating cookies, brownies, cup cakes, big cakes, pies etc. Happy Halloween my ready for tricks and treats readers! I love this holiday so much because its the one time a year you can dress up like whoever or whatever you want!:) I have been doing a lot to prepare for today. I have fixed my white swan costume from last year because Robin and I are trying to win the halloween costume contest at Alstarz. I also have watched ever Halloween movie during the week and it got me thinking about what I would have done if I was in that same place. What would I have done if someone like Michael Myers was after me? Well don't worry because I have created a survival guide to help you guys make it through your Halloween night. First case scenario: there's a cereal killer on the loose and he's coming tonight for you! I never understood why in the second remake of Halloween II Laurie didn't just leave town for the night?! I mean It's Halloween, she knows he coming, she knows she's his sister and she knows there's no where in town where she's safe! So why would she stay there? If I was her I would have packed a bag, grabbed my friends, got into a car and drove some where very far away and I wouldn't come back for at least a week if ever. but NO! Instead she gets dressed up and goes to a party! Don't be like Laurie, if you know someone's coming for you get the Hell out I there! Second case scenario: you're out in the middle of no where and these weird people are trying to kill you and your friends. People in horror movies are either really stupid or they're so freaked out by what's happening that they're not thinking clearly. Maybe that's why in every horror movie the main characters always make bad decisions. I was watching The Human Centipede. Which is the most disgusting movie ever! But that's beside the point. in the movie before the "surgery" the one girl actually has a real chance to escape. She could have ran away, got help and recused her friend but instead she goes back into the house and casually tries to drag her unconscious friend around trying not to get caught and of course she gets caught! I understand you don't want to leave your friend behide but if it was me and I was trapped in a house with my friends and I had a chance to get out and get help I'm running. but I'm coming back to save my friends with the police by my side. Third case scenario: your house is haunted with ghost maybe even demons. The thing about the paranormal activity movies is the whole reason things get out of control is because the people in the movie don't do the one thing everyone tells them to do! Stop Recording! Using the cameras and trying to get a reaction only makes them angry. To really get rid of them just ignore them! Okay if they did that in the movie than there would be no movie to show but I'm talking about real life here. Fourth case scenario: it's Halloween night and you have nothing to do! Never fear! Watch some scary movies, crave a pumpkin, dress up for the trick or treaters, bake cookies, pop pop-corn, play board games with your friends, turn off the lights and tell ghost stories. lol:) whatever you do have fun and happy halloween:) Welcome to another addition of Cheap Chic. As you know my birthday just past so I did some shopping and got some cute new stuff. I love to shop!:) This is the perfect time to buy new clothes. The weather is changing and a new school year is starting. I'm so excited for Fall.:) On my mini shopping spree yesterday I got this really adorable black tank top from American Eagle. What I love about the tank top is that it's long and very flattering to my figure. I also bought new skinny jeans from Target. They fit me so good and they're very comfy.:) The tank top was $15.00 and the jeans were $24.99. I have been looking for a jean jacket for a long time and I finally found one at Target. What I love about it is that the sleeves and hoodie is a gray cotton material. It's different and it looks so cute on me. It's perfect for Fall and Winter weather. The jacket was $32.00. For my birthday I wanted to wear something really cute and girlie. I had this idea in my head of a cute white dress and after going to many different places I ended up finding exactly what I was looking for at Areopastale. This beautiful white dress is part of the Berhany Mota collection. I just recently found out about her on YouTube. I love her DIY and baking videos. I love the details in the dress the lace in the skirt part and how tight the top of it is. This dress was $34.00 and worth every penny.:) That's all for this month. Looking forward to the new season.:) Hello there my wonderful readers! And welcome to my second edition of Cheap Chic. This month I a few favorites that I'd like to share with you so let's get started: The first thing I want to talk about is my new black gym shorts that I got for $7.00 at Kohls. If you're anything like me finding the right pair of shorts can be tough. I can't wear jean shorts. They just don't look good on me, so usually in the summer I wear mostly dresses, but they are some days where I might just want to dress comfy. These black shorts are so comfortable! They go with anything because they're black and they look great on me.:) The second thing I want to talk about is my newest long black summer dress that I got from target for $29.99. I've wanted one for a very long time, but I was nervous about whether or not I could pull it off. Well it turns out I can!:) The next thing I want to talk about is my new bikini that I got at Kohls for $36.00. I love it! I love the color, I love the style and I love the way it looks on me. I have bigger thighs so because the bottoms of this bikini is a skirt its a lot more flattering to my figure. It's really not about having the "perfect body" or being "super skinny" it's about finding the right clothes to wear and knowing how to wear them. The last thing I want to talk about is my over the shirt shirt that I got for $15.00 at American Eagle. It's an off white top that you wear over a tank top. It's very cute, very stylish, and its different. That's all for July. I'll see you in August:) Hey there readers! And welcome to my first ever Cheap Chic post. It's basically advice on different ways to still look great but without spending a ton of money. These are just a few cute things I bought this month that I wanted to share.:) Ok so the first thing I got were these really cute sunglasses from Kohls. They were originally $36.00 but on sale for $12.00. I think they're adorable. They really fit my tiny face well. My old sunglasses were way too big for my face. I was going for the Jackie O look but I think I can pull that off as well as she did. I love the poka dots, and that the frames inside are hot pink. It's girlie and cute and I love them:) Second thing I bought was this awesome black Victoria's Secret hoodie. I'm obsessed with wearing this. I love it! I love the style, I love how it goes with whatever I'm wearing, and I love how the back says "LOVE PINK". The Summer is really the best time to buy sweatshirts and hoodies because they are so much cheaper now then they are in the Fall/Winter. This hoodie would have been close to $70.00 but it was on sale for $29.99 plus I had a coupon for $10.00 off which came to $19.99. Yay!!!!:) Take it from me, buy your hoodies, and sweaters now while its super hot out. You will sale so much money!:) Last week I bought two amazing items from American Eagle. The first was this adorable black, summer dress which was originally $54.00 on sale for $35.00. It was love at first sight. I saw it and I knew I had to have it. I love the way I look in it. :) Next item was this green tank top which I thought was really pretty and I don't own anything else like it. It was $15.99 and I love wearing it. It's very flattering and cute.:) Last thing I got were these earrings which I actually won at the arcade in wildwood this past weekend, but I've seen earrings similar to these at Kohls, Forever 21 etc.. I love the shape. They can go well with any outfit and they're really pretty. That's all for tonight. Hope these tips help with your shopping needs. Have a great night.:) Hey readers. I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about who I want to be more like. Now I know if you asked a bunch of girls who they would like to be they'd probably say some beautiful famous actress or a popular singer. Simply because they are beauiful, talented, and people adore them. There are quite a few famous people I wanted to be like in the past. Then I realized being pretty, and popular is nice, but what I really want to be is someone who's a really nice person. Someone who goes out of their way to help others in need. These people don't have to be famous, or in movies. You can find them all around you. I work with some of them. Now some people I work with don't give a damn about helping anyone. They're all about themselves and what works for them, and God forbid you ask them for help! They act like you're bothering them. Then there are other people I work with who can't do enough to help me, and they do it with a smile on their face. Those are the kind of people I want to be like. I want to be the girl that helps people, that has a good heart, And that cares about others. We should all try to help as many people as we can, even if its just something small like giving someone directions to get somewhere, or buying your co-worker a coffee before work when you know they're having a hard week, or just saying something nice to someone to make their day a little better. I believe the more you put out the more it comes back to you. And that goes both ways. If you're mean and put out negativity that will come right back to you. But if you're happy and positive and put out all good things then good things will happen to you too.:) Dear Readers as you know by now I have moved out of my house and am now living with my boyfriend. It's a lot of fun, but I also have to really watch what I spend money on. I used to be really bad at keeping track of my money. I would never check to see how much I had in the bank, I would buy things that I really didn't need just because I enjoy shopping....a lot. I just really wasn't good with money, but with every mistake that we make there is a lesion to be learned. Now I'm very good with my money. So if you're living on your own, or thinking about living on your own, or just are looking for ways to save some money here are a few tips to help you out: # 2: PACK YOUR LUNCH/COOK DINNERS: One of the things that will help you save is to put together a budget for the food store. If you bring your lunch to work, and cook at least a few times a week instead of eating out it will help you save. What My boyfriend and I have been doing is buying things for lunches like yogurt, fruit cups, and tuna with crackers, and then I've been cooking very inexpensive meals 3 times a week, and on the other nights we eat Subway, or Lean Cuisines. # 3: SHOP AROUND FOR THE BEST PRICE!!! I can't even tell you how many times I have over paid for things that I could have gotten cheaper somewhere else. Instead of going shopping for things at the mall go to discount stores like Wal-Mart. Don't be too proud to go to the Dollar store either! They actually have decent stuff in there. # 4: ALWAYS KEEP TRACK OF YOUR MONEY!!! If you ever don't know exactly how much you have in the bank or you just want to double check, it's a really good idea to do online banking. That way you can log in whenever to check all your statements. # 5: TRY TO PUT SOME MONEY ASIDE FOR SAVINGS!!! Every time I get paid I always try to put some money aside for a rainy day. You never know what will come up in the future. Sometimes I can only put aside $20 but it's still something and it does add up.:-) I hope these tips help you guys as much as they help me:-) Good luck out there!!! xoxo
