Hello Readers! Well, as you know I am coming to the end of my pregnancy. I now have four more days left until I get to officially meet my daughter for the first time.
Let me bring you up to speed on what has been going on. When I went to my 36th week appointment about three weeks ago we discovered that our baby was breeched. She has been breeched ever since. I know that she is still breeched because I can feel her little, round head right below my rib cage. Because she is a breeched baby, I can not give birth the natural way. So my doctor scheduled me to have a c-section on Thursday May 10th. I'm extremely nervous about having this surgery. I honestly didn't know that much about it until I started really doing a lot of research about it. I've talked to several other women who have had c-sections. Some of them told me it was a very painful recovery, others said it wasn't too bad. I guess it really depends on the person. Hopefully I won't be in too much pain afterwards. I do not have the best tolerance for pain, I will admit it. We also found out that we are having a very small baby. They assured me that she is still in the normal range, just on the small side. I've been dying to see what her face looks like, but because she's in a bad position and her head is literally right next to the placenta, I have not been able to get a good picture through ultrasound. Ultrasounds are great in a lot of ways, but they can also be very misleading. Half of the time I'm not even sure exactly what I'm looking at. We had our shower at the end of March and my co-workers also surprised me with a second shower the week before I left for maternity leave. I couldn't believe how much baby supplies we received. It was so sweet and thoughtful of everyone! Kevin and I have spent the last few weeks getting ready for the baby to come. We set up all of her furniture and got her nursery ready. I washed all of her clothes, blankets, towels, socks, hats and newborn mittens. We went for a tour of the hospital and took a basic baby class. I got both of our bags packed, we got our car seats in both of our cars, and I washed all of her bottles, pacifiers and teethers in the dish washer. I'm pretty sure everything is ready for her. I just need to get through this surgery on Thursday. Please say a little prayer that everything goes well! I look forward to writing all about my new adventures with my little side kick.:)
